MUSEUM OF THE BIBLE

LAUNCHES 7-WEEK LECTURE SERIES ON THE BIBLE’S INFLUENCE ON PAST U.S. PRESIDENTS

Acclaimed New York Times bestselling author and public policy expert, Joshua Charles to kick-off series September 1

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — With the 2016 election upon us, Museum of the Bible will be launching a 7-week, fall lecture series at Oklahoma Christian University entitled, Presidential Influence: The Importance of the Bible Among America’s Greatest Leaders.

“There is no doubt that the 2016 presidential election is one of the most talked about events in our country’s modern history,” said Cary Summers, president of Museum of the Bible. “As such, we see it as a perfect opportunity to bring into the discussion an academic review of the Bible’s influence in the lives and careers of some of America’s greatest leaders.”

On September 1, New York Times best-selling author, public policy Fellow at William Jessup University and Researcher/Writer for Museum of the Bible, Joshua Charles will kick-off the series by exploring the Bible’s influence on the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln.

Dr. Ted Steinbock of the University of Louisville and Dr. Barry Hankins of Baylor University will follow with presentations on Presidents George Washington and Woodrow Wilson on September 15 and October 6 respectively. Four more speakers will deliver lectures on Presidents Andrew Jackson, George H.W. Bush, Thomas Jefferson, and John Quincy Adams.

“The Museum of the Bible has gathered experts, who are brilliant communicators, to deliver these lectures. I believe anyone who attends this series will walk away with a greater appreciation for the weight of responsibility shouldered by a President of the United States, and how each of them in their own unique way, relied on the Bible for comfort and guidance as they made decisions of incredible consequence, many of which continue to impact our world to this day.”

The lecture series is free to the public and will be held in the Cail Auditorium at Oklahoma Christian University’s campus. The lectures will occur on select Thursdays from September 1 to December 1. The schedule with the full list of events and speakers is available at the Museum of the Bible Lectures page, where those wishing to attend are encouraged to RSVP.
