Scripture and Science Student Day: The Great Expedition

October 28, 2023
Scripture & Science Student Day: The Great Expedition

Join us for the Scripture and Science Student Day Expedition at Museum of the Bible! On the expedition, students will tackle age-appropriate challenges that introduce them to our newest exhibit, Scripture and Science, and take them across the museum in fun and engaging ways.

Challenges will include DNA building, trivia questions, karaoke challenges, and entertaining debates. Students can also interact with scientists like Galileo, Maria Sibylla Merian, Caroline Herschel, and Gregor Mendel, and enjoy presentations from guest speakers on the interaction of scripture and science. And there will be a reward for all those who complete the expedition.

Bring your students and excite their curiosity as we dive into the relationship between scripture and science and together tackle some of life’s biggest questions! This event is free, but students must still register. See details below.

Highlights

Makerspace (Education Area)

Have some trivia fun with Kahoot. We have 100 questions to challenge and immerse you in the content of our Scripture and Science exhibition. Think you know about Copernicus, planetary orbits, biological discoveries, and more? Test your knowledge and see how many you can answer! Challenge your friends or bring a team because the highest score wins a prize!

SuperDiscourse

If you like games like SuperFight or Funemployment, then you will enjoy SuperDiscourse. Pretending to be one of the historical figures from our Scripture and Science exhibition, convince the crowd to fund your latest invention! There may be unusual pairings, so get ready to use critical and creative thinking. Challenge a family member or friend to join the fun. After you present your inventions, the scientist with the most funders wins a prize.

Science Karaoke

Join us as we sing along to a variety of songs all related to scripture and science. You’ll see throwbacks from “Schoolhouse Rock!” together with new hits. Kick off karaoke with special guests Galaxy Girl & the Rocketz, featuring members of Museum of the Bible’s Education Department!

Film Screening

Can you imagine driving a car through our solar system? Join us to see how documentarians and friends Alex Gorosh and Wylie Overstreet created the first scale model of the solar system with complete planetary orbits in the middle of a lakebed in Nevada. This short film shows how vast our solar system really is.
