Winter Olympic Games: Lolo Jones

In 2012, Olympic hurdler Lolo Jones began working toward yet another Olympic dream—as a bobsledder. She qualified for the 2014 Sochi Games. The day before her first round of competition, Lolo tweeted a message to a teammate, along with an inspirational Bible verse from 1 Peter 1:21: “Who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.”

In January 2017, Jones tweeted her 2017 New Year’s resolution was to “read the Bible in its entirety in 90 days!” As preparation for the 2018 Winter Olympics began, she also challenged Twitter followers to look to the Bible in inspiration: “Speak Bible verses over yourself. Declare it. Inject hope when there is none.”
