Museum of the Bible: Pray for peace in the land of the Bible

WASHINGTON – Museum of the Bible issues the following statement in response to the horrific attacks on Israel by the terrorist organization Hamas:

“Museum of the Bible joins the international community to condemn these despicable acts perpetrated by Hamas on innocent civilians in Israel. These terrorists began their attack while religious Jews were celebrating the biblical holiday of Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah, or 'Joy of Torah.'

“We think particularly of our friends, colleagues and collaborators at the Israel Antiquities Authority, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the Church of the Nativity. In collaboration with these esteemed partners, Museum of the Bible will continue to engage in meaningful dialogue, research and exhibitions that shed light on the rich biblical heritage shared by both our nations.

“The Jewish people could use our prayers as never before, and Jewish communities all around the world have already been subject to increased antisemitic attacks by emboldened extremists. We extend our heartfelt prayers and support to all Israelis and invite the world to join us as we pray for peace in the land of the Bible.”
