FAQs
How old do I have to be to volunteer?
You must be 16 years old or above to volunteer at Museum of the Bible.
What is the time commitment to join the volunteer program?
The minimum time commitment for volunteering depends on your service level. Annual volunteers are required to complete twenty (20) hours per quarter. Seasonal volunteers are required to complete eight (8) hours per quarter. All volunteers must commit to one (1) year of service regardless of service level. Due to the training requirements, volunteers must be willing to meet these program standards.
Am I required to complete a background check?
Yes, all volunteers must successfully complete a thorough background check to join the Museum of the Bible Volunteer Program.
What happens after I successfully pass the background check?
Each person must complete the volunteer training session, which lasts approximately four (4) hours. New volunteers will learn the history of the museum and about the exhibits and museum-approved content to share with guests. Museum of the Bible offers training sessions throughout the year, and the training is a part of the volunteer onboarding process.
How do I register for a volunteer shift?
Volunteer opportunities are available on weekdays, weekends and evenings with a minimum commitment of eight (8) hours per month. Volunteers may create their own schedule by signing into the volunteer portal to look at the schedule and to sign up for shifts. We recommend volunteers sign up for three to four (3–4) hours per day but no more than eight (8) hours per day.
I am interested in volunteering and can meet all the program’s requirements (e.g., can attend all training classes, make the time commitment, etc.). What do I do next?
Fill out the online application and we will contact you for an interview with the Volunteer Manager to discuss next steps.
To volunteer, do I need a degree in biblical studies or any other field?
No. Our volunteers come from varied backgrounds, but they all possess a desire to engage all people with the transformative power of the Bible!
