WASHINGTON — Museum of the Bible has announced a series of events, activities and exhibits ahead of the Easter holiday. “Easter at Museum of the Bible” includes joyful choir performances, a streaming documentary, a powerful exhibit of portraits of Christ, and much more.

Stations of the Cross

Stations of the Cross is an interactive and spiritual art experience, based in a long tradition of the church, commemorating 14 events from the last hours of Jesus’s life. Created by renowned bronze sculptor Gib Singleton, each station is sculpted to convey a spiritual and emotional connection to the soul. Also available are video devotionals focused on the Stations of the Cross, on with Jeff Cavins, creator of the Great Adventure Bible Study series, and Monsignor Rosetti and DC Opera singer Crossley Hawn.

Ecce Homo: Behold the Man

This captivating showcase depicts the Passion of Christ through the diverse lenses of 21 artists whose works span five centuries – including a work from renowned surrealist Salvador Dalí. From the early Syrian-Byzantine depictions to the bold interpretations of the 20th century, guests will witness the evolution of this poignant biblical scene.

Easter Brunch
A special Easter brunch will be served that draws on the complex flavors of Israeli cuisine. This event is ticketed and seats must be reserved.

History of Easter documentary
While the origin behind Easter Sunday is known to all—the resurrection of Jesus—The origins of the many Easter holiday traditions are less familiar to many. Hosted by Matthew West, this joint presentation by Museum of the Bible and TBN explores Easter traditions enjoyed today back through the earliest day of the church. The documentary is streaming for free throughout March here and on Great American Family on March 29.

Choir Performances
Throughout the Easter season the museum’s Grand Hall will be filled with the joyious sound of live choral performances.

Via Dolorosa live interactive experience
Via Dolorosa, or “Way of Sorrow” in Latin, is believed to be the path that Jesus took to the cross. In this interactive story, the museum’s living history interpreters will retell the Easter story as early followers of Christ and join in the ancient cry of celebration — "Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!" The Via Dolorosa experience is performed March 29 and 30 at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Floor 1 adjacent to the Stations of the Cross.
