Dr. Carlos Campo, Chief Executive Officer
Carlos Campo, PhD, serves as the chief executive officer of Museum of the Bible, where he oversees the executive team and the museum's employees. Dr. Campo provides visionary and strategic leadership to the museum, directing all functions related to its mission—to invite all people to engage with the Bible's transformative power.
Dr. Campo's appointment as CEO follows a successful career in academic leadership, including his term as the 30th president of Ashland University, the president of Regent University, and the chief academic officer at the College of Southern Nevada.
As Vice Chair of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, he works with national leaders on immigrant reform. He is a sought-after speaker and routinely ranks among the nation's most influential Latino Christian leaders.
Dr. Campo's career has been fueled by an undeniable legacy of talent and grit––characteristics ingrained growing up in a renowned family of famous entertainers and pioneers in American television in the ’40s and ’50s. His mother was Betty Clooney, who, with her sister Rosemary, vaulted to the top of the music industry as a duet duo. Carlos's father, Pupi Campo, was a legendary Latin orchestra leader and recording artist who left his home in Cuba to pursue his dreams in New York.
In his new role as CEO, Carlos has meticulously set short-term and long-term plans to take Museum of the Bible into the future.
Dr. Campo envisions Museum of the Bible celebrating:
- One million guests per year by 2030
- A $250 million endowment by 2030
- 12 free days per month
- First floor free in 2025
(For comparison, the Smithsonian [which consists of 20 museums and the National Zoo] boasts 25 million guests per year, received $1.9 billion in federal funding in 2024, and has more than a $7 billion endowment.)
Dr. Campo loves God's Word and has a deep connection with the museum, having served as a long-time board member and chairman of the educational committee. Carlos and Karen, his wife of 44 years, have three children and three grandchildren. Learn more about Dr. Carlos Campo’s rich legacy in this introductory video.
