Bells of Bethlehem: Sounds from the Church of the Nativity

November 9, 2022 – January 29, 2023

In co-operation with the Custody of the Holy Land, the Terra Sancta Museum in Jerusalem, and the Bethlehem Development Foundation, Museum of the Bible presents Bells of Bethlehem: Sounds from the Church of the Nativity. The highlight of the exhibition will be six Crusader-era bells and part of the pipe organ from the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. These objects have never been on display in the United States. Come celebrate the church that marks the site of Jesus's birth.

Listen to the Christmas Story

November 25 – December 31, 2022

Don't miss a chance to hear the Christmas story as told in the Gospels while you relax in a cozy setting. This is a wonderful family Christmas tradition to begin at the museum this year. Readings will be held at noon every day.

Gloria: The Christmas Tour

Enjoy the sounds of this Christmas season with 11-time Dove Award-winning and three-time Grammy-nominated group Point of Grace on The Gloria Tour! With 25 No. 1 songs and four Christmas albums over the span of their 30-year career, Point of Grace has made touring in December an annual tradition.  This year, the girls have asked their longtime friend singer/songwriter Mark Schultz to join them along with Andrew Greer, the co-host of Dinner Conversations with Mark Lowry. The Gloria Tour will be a night of laughter, carols, and your favorite Christmas songs that you won’t want to miss!

Sing! An Irish Christmas

December 17–19, 2022

Join us for Keith and Kristyn Getty live on the World Stage Theater. The Gettys and friends will be performing Sing! An Irish Christmas, a concert previously aired to millions on TV. Back by popular demand, the Gettys are at the museum for two nights, December 17–18, and at the iconic Anthem theater at the Wharf in DC on December 19 with special guests David Platt, Malcolm Guite, Blessing Offor, and more. Why the Nativity? Docufilm

The museum will be showing Dr. David Jeremiah's Why the Nativity? in the World Stage Theater every day at 1:00 p.m. from December 3, 2022, through January 6, 2023. Come enjoy Christmas at the museum and take in this special show. It's free with museum admission.

Christmas Book Launch

December 10 at 1:00 p.m.

Come hear New York Times bestselling author Raymond Arroyo read his book, The Wise Men Who Found Christmas, on December 10 at 1:00 p.m. Enjoy listening to this miraculous, untold tale of three seekers who follow a star and find themselves in the middle of the greatest story ever told.

Christmas Station

November 25 – December 31, Daily, 1:00–4:00 p.m.

Join Museum of the Bible's educators to create your own Christmas ornaments. Visit the station and work on activities related to the museum's Christmas celebrations.

Nativity Workshop

November 25 – December 31, Fridays and Saturdays, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. 

Participate in our Nativity workshop and create your own Nativity scene. Museum guests will be able to vote for their favorite Nativity and winners who will be announced at 3:00 p.m. receive a prize of a bag full of items from the Museum Store. After the competition you can then take your Nativity home. Limited capacity.

Lunch & Learn

December 21, 12:00–1:00 p.m.

Our virtual December 21 Lunch & Learn: Christmas Traditions will be from noon to 1:00 p.m. What does Christmas celebrate? What is the early record of its celebration? Why does it have the date it does? What are some common myths? Where do our traditions come from? Join Daniel Stevens, Museum of the Bible’s director of scholars initiative, to learn the answers to these questions and more!

"A Christmas Carol" and Biblical Allusions of Charles Dickens 

December 9–31, Fridays and Saturdays, 2:00 & 3:00 p.m.

In this 15–20-minute interactive dialogue, guests will be invited to help the narrator change Scrooge's disposition toward Christmas.

Hanukkah Storytelling

December 18–26, Daily, 11:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m.

During the weeks leading up to and during Hanukkah, living history interpreters will immerse guests in a dramatic retelling of the Maccabean Revolt and relive the wonder of the miracle of light. This storytelling experience will include pantomime fights, a tyrannical leader, a brave hero, and the miraculous provision of eight days of light, all leading to the independence of the Jewish nation. The show is free with general admission and runs about 10 minutes.
