Museum of the Bible is sharing the story of the oldest Hebrew codex (ancient book-form) in the world, the Afghan Liturgical Quire, thanks to a multicultural partnership between the museum, Afghan officials from the previous government, and the Afghan Jewish community in New York. The Afghan Liturgical Quire's discovery and story marks a historic moment in Jewish culture and interreligious partnership.
The exhibition, Sacred Words: Revealing the Earliest Hebrew Book, will be open from September 24, 2024, to January 12, 2025, at Museum of the Bible. Your financial support will allow for the opening event and display at The Library of The Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. In New York, the exhibition will be closer to the majority of Afghan Jews in the United States, increasing access for this community and Jewish communities from Central Asia. Through your support, the impact of this multicultural project will reach beyond the walls of the museum!
