Watch The Major and the Missionary, a heartwarming play that brings to life the letters and conversations between Warren Lewis and his close friend, Blanche Biggs, highlighting the deep connections that formed the backdrop of the Lewis brothers’ lives. Observe their unique bond and discover the untold story of the man who stood beside C. S. Lewis, influencing and being influenced by his brother in ways that shaped their shared literary legacy.

Speakers

Dr. Diana Glyer

Diana Pavlac Glyer is an award-winning writer whose work centers on C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, and the Inklings. Her book The Company They Keep shows how encouragement, praise, criticism, and conflict shaped their fellowship and their books; her book Bandersnatch explains what we can learn from their example. She has a brand-new book out called, Clay in the Potter’s Hands, a Christian devotional highlighting the way that God works in extraordinary ways in our ordinary, everyday lives. She teaches in the Honors College at Azusa Pacific University in California.

Mark Lewis

Mark Lewis

Mark Lewis is the director of theater at Wheaton College and for 30 years has been "in the room" with Wheaton’s unique theater ensemble "Workout" (which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024). Before coming to Wheaton, Mark was a professional actor in New York, working regionally on daytime television and in 15 professional productions of Shakespeare’s plays (at such venues as The Public Theater in New York and The Acting Company). As a director, Mark is grateful to have directed more than 50 plays at Wheaton College, including 15 productions of Shakespeare’s plays. In New York in 2018, Mark directed Seadog Theater’s acclaimed production of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, which won a New York Independent Theater Award for Best Revival of a Play, and for which he was named Best Director of a Play by the same organization.

Kailey Bell

Kailey Bell is a Chicago-based professional actor. Select favorite roles include Mississippi/Jessie/Roberta in Heaven’s My Destination (Cleveland Play House), Linda/Annie in Final Curtain (International Mystery Writer’s Festival), Thelma in Trip to Bountiful and Amy in Little Women (Kansas City Repertory Theater), Anne Page in Merry Wives of Windsor (Chicago Shakespeare Theater), and Juliet in Romeo and Juliet (Indiana Repertory Theatre). Kailey also has several television credits including work on Chicago PD, Chicago Fire, and The CHI. She also does narrative and commercial voice acting. Kailey works as a professor at Wheaton College, and holds an MA in theater from Northwestern University, and an MFA in theater from the University of Idaho. She is a member of the Actors Equity Association and SAG/AFTRA.
