“A General’s Prayer”

Starring James DentonJun 12, 2026 - Jul 19, 2026
“A General’s Prayer”

In the bitter winter of the American Revolution, alone at Valley Forge, General George Washington faces the weight of an impossible task: holding together a fragile army, an uncertain cause, and a nation not yet born.

But this is not just the story of a nation on the brink, it is the story of a man carrying a burden that feels too heavy to bear—and the quiet place he goes when everything is on the line.

A General’s Prayer is a stirring one-man theatrical experience that invites you into Washington’s private world: his doubts, his resolve, and his dependence on God in the face of overwhelming uncertainty. Through moments of reflection, memory, and prayer, we encounter not the distant legend, but the man: a leader shaped as much by faith as by strategy, and a struggle that may feel closer to home than you expect.

Performed by James Denton (Desperate Housewives, Good Witch), this intimate production places you in the room with Washington at his most vulnerable. You don’t just hear history—you step inside a moment where everything could have fallen apart, and witness the source of the courage that carried him through.

And in that moment, you may begin to see your own questions more clearly: Where do you turn when the pressure mounts? What sustains you when the outcome is uncertain? What does courage look like when the cost is real?

“The fate of unborn millions will now depend, under God, on the courage and conduct of this army . . .” — George Washington, A General’s Prayer

Set against the stark beauty of a winter encampment, this powerful and intimate experience reveals the spiritual foundation that sustained Washington in his darkest hour, and invites you to consider the source of true courage in your own life.

As America marks its 250th anniversary, step into this moment with General George Washington and reflect on what it takes to carry what has been entrusted to you.
