Oil Lamp Workshop

(General Admission + $9.99)
Alternating Fridays & Saturdays
Limit 20 people per session

Oil lamps are one of the most commonly found artifacts on archaeological sites and are often decorated with images that reflect the culture and times of the people who made them. In this workshop, guests will use clay on a press mold in the ancient style to create their own lamp to take home.

Mosaic Workshop

(General Admission + $9.99)
Mondays, Alternating Fridays & Saturdays
Limit 40 people per session

In this workshop, we will reveal stunning examples of mosaic art from the classical period of ancient Israel and focus on the artistic motifs and inscriptions found in churches and synagogues. You will create a small mosaic to take home with you! You can use one of our templates or create your own custom design.

Perfume Workshop

(General Admission + $4.99)
Wednesdays, Alternating Fridays & Saturdays
Limit 40 people per session

The history of fragrances is ancient, and archaeological finds related to fragrances have been discovered in many countries. Fragrances were used to produce pleasant scents for cultic activities, cosmetics, burial rituals, and more. In this workshop, we will prepare herb and spice samples in small perfume bottles to create a personal fragrance to take home.

Coin Workshop

(General Admission + $4.99)
Tuesdays, Alternating Fridays & Saturdays
Limit 40 people per session

Around 2,500 years ago, the first coins were struck. Today, archaeologists find coins with a variety of symbols—written names and words, figures, and geometric symbols. Coins provide important dating evidence for sites. In this workshop, we will make examples of coins discovered in excavations throughout Israel.

Dead Sea Scrolls Workshop

(General Admission + $9.99)
Thursdays, Alternating Fridays & Saturdays
Limit 40 people per session

Step into the world of ancient scribes as we explore the Dead Sea Scrolls by examining the materials and methods used to produce these ancient manuscripts. In this workshop, guests will be able to handle reproductions of parchment, ink, and scribal tools to understand the physical realities of copying texts in antiquity.
