Barbara Bush

In an interview Barbara Bush said,“I’m the mother of wonderful children and the wife of one of the world’s greatest men!” Barbara Bush, was a wife and mother of U.S. presidents, a distinction shared with only one other woman in America’s history, Abigail Adams. Known for her “wit and grace” Mrs. Bush was equally as well known for being a passionate advocate for literacy.

At George W. Bush’s inauguration in 2001, his wife, Laura, held the Bible as he was sworn in as the 43rd president of the United States—a Bible given to him by former President George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush. George W. Bush has said, “I read the Bible every day during my presidency. Faith informed my principles and my decisions.”
