National Grandparent’s Day is celebrated the first Sunday after Labor Day. It’s an opportunity to join in a biblical tradition of honoring grandparents! One of the most familiar passages in the Bible regarding grandparents is in 2 Timothy 1:5.
Paul writes to a young man he called his “true son in the faith.” In it, he speaks of Timothy’s grandmother, Lois: “I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwells first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice. And now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.” And in Proverbs 17:6, speaking of grandchildren, it says: “Grandchildren are the crown of the aged . . .” and in Proverbs 13:22: “A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children.”
