Babies With Popular Biblical Names

If you were born in August, you’re among thousands of babies born in the biggest birthday month of the year! Currently, the biblical name "Noah" is front and center as the most popular name for boys; with "Emma" number one for girls!

Over the decades biblical names from both the Old and New Testament have been in the top five: names like David, Michael, John, James, and Joseph. The Social Security Administration list of the top 100 baby names for girls and boys dates back to 1917, when the most popular baby names were John and Mary. John is now #28 and Mary has fallen in popularity to #127!

Some Jewish traditions believe a person’s name can illustrate his or her character, captured in a paraphrase of 1 Samuel 25:25: “Like his name, so is he!” Engaging with the Bible—in its impact and influence in every aspect of life!
