Dabo Swinney: Integrating Faith and Football!

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney is known for his integration of faith and football. So it was no surprise in 2015 when Swinney celebrated a playoff bid with a pep talk to 30,000 fans in Memorial Stadium with a quote from the Bible, Galatians 6:9: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Swinney not only displays Bible verses in his office, but refers to the Bible often in team meetings. In fact, most Clemson players can recite their coach’s favorite verse from 1 Corinthians 9:24–25: “in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize. So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize!"
