Discoveries Where Goliath May Have Walked

“Everything from vessels to bones” . . .a description of the significant finds in this past summer’s Gath archaeological site discoveries in southern Israel.
Archaeologists and biblical scholars are saying it’s a “strong indication” the Philistines once lived at this site—the ancient “arch” enemies of the Israelites described in the Hebrew Bible.

In another archaeological dig in Ashkelon, one of the five Philistine cities mentioned in the Hebrew Bible, a 3,000 year-old Philistine cemetery was uncovered—the first ever discovered.

Daniel M. Master, professor of archaeology at Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois, co-director of the dig said: “With this discovery we are close to unlocking the secrets of the Philistine’s origins.” Master said, “we have finally come face to face with the people themselves.”

Engage with the Bible—in those discoveries linking to our understanding of the past!
