A Museum Experience Unlike Any Other

The entrance to the Museum of the Bible may be the most photographed museum entrance in Washington, DC! Visitors are welcomed by dramatic 40-foot high bronze gates emblazoned with Genesis 1 from the Gutenberg Bible—with panels mimicking the Latin—typeset backwards as it would have been on Gutenberg's press. A unique piece of art hangs in the lobby: a glass panel displaying Psalm 19 from a papyrus leaf from the Museum Collections. The Greek text dates to the third or fourth century AD—a 1,500-year-old manuscript on display inside the museum. Museum of the Bible invites all people to engage with the Bible in a museum experience unlike anything seen before—all in honor of the Bible!
